Pastoral Greetings 5/10/09
Dear all:
It was nice to see Pastor Julian back from his missions trip to China. He was all charged up and led us in a wonderful time of worship. Adeline Tan led us in pre service prayer as Chris was back in Penang. We are seeing new ones involved at our services.
Last week, I was reminded again about the tsunami and earthquakes that hit various parts of Asia and in the Pacific Islands. Our neighbours, the Philippines and Vietnam were inundated by flood waters....while Indonesia was devastated by earthquakes. Flood, earthquake and tsunami...all in this region. We do not wish to see the repeat of the 2004 tsunami that left thousands homeless and killed more than 250,000.
Some years ago, C Peter Wagner wrote a book called " ChurchQuake " while Peter Tsukahira wrote a book called " God's Tsunami ". Both authors see the church as a 'raising and powerful' force that will impact the world like the effects of an earthquake or tsunami. I am excited that wave after wave of impact will 'inundate ' the world with the gospel of Jesus. While we are saddened by the natural disasters, we look forward to the spiritual waves that will cause significant changes to our spiritual landscapes. Now is the time for us to be prepared as a church to position ourselves for the next move of God.
Let us continue to pray for those who have been affected by the recent calamities.
