Pastoral Greetings 27/09/09

Dear all:

It is good to see all of you again after the long break. I had some opportunities to meet up with various ones for fellowship during the extended holidays. It was a refreshing time in the Lord.

I was awaken early one morning by a text message that was not meant for me. I am sure you have had such experiences before...but at 4am. It was from someone I did not know and he said ' ....I was woken up at 1230 by the Holy Spirit to pray for the unity of the church....and again at 230. " Hmm... It must have been something urgent that the Holy Spirit would wake an intercessor twice and at those times. I did not think much about it but the message sank home later: maybe this was a serious call by God to the churches and believers at this time.

Jesus' prayer in John 17 was that 'we may be one'. Unity is one of the strengths of the church. When we are united, God will command 'His blessing'. Perhaps, this is a wake up (it woke me up at 4am) call for all of us. This week, let us consider what we can do to promote unity among believers and do something about it.
