Pastoral Greetings 11/10/09
Dear all:
It was another good time we had at service. I was reminded about my faith level when the guest speaker spoke to us regarding " Where is your faith? " At times, we need to hear the foundational issues of our Christian life again. The message was not one that was hyped or that challenged us emotionally. It caused us to think and to revisit that area where we need to see God work in our lives.
At a time when we are faced with the storms of life, we need to hear God say to us... " where is your faith? " The guest speaker ended the message by saying that faith does 2 things: (1) It does something to the kingdom of God (2) It does something to us. In both incidences, it grows and we grow. I am constantly aware that a believer needs to grow up. We need to have our own personal relationship and experience with God. That is why each of us has to take our own personal journey of faith.
Life is full of challenges; the ups and the downs. Ultimately, we can only handle them if we place our faith in Christ. The speaker also mentioned that in order for faith to work, we have to place ourselves in a situation for faith to be challenged.
The disciples were in a boat where the sea had become rough. The boat was about to sink. A matter of life or death! This was very stretching for them. This was not a time to practise your swimming either. They called on the Lord. He asked them to 'exercise their faith'.
Many times we call on others to help solve our problems for us....but I believe the Lord waits for us to do it on our own and work this out with Him. So this week be reminded. Place your faith in Him as you face that situation or deliberately get yourself into a situation where you need to exercise your faith....see yourself grow!
Be blessed.
